CHARACTER INFORMATION
NAME: Wilbur Robinson
CANON: Meet the Robinsons
CANON REFERENCE: Meet the Robinsons
AGE: 13
GENDER: Male
YEAR IN SCHOOL/FACULTY POSITION: MS2

APPEARANCE:
He has the average build for a thirteen year old boy, thin and not particularly tall. He has brown eyes and black hair that is in a somewhat pointy pompadour style. As for clothes, despite being from the future, he has a t-shirt, jeans, and the old American favorite, Converse.
PERSONALITY: Wilbur is a fast-paced, fast talking kind of guy with no time to sit and look at the big picture. It's a surprise if anyone can keep up with him. He has a lot to do and very little time to do it. He doesn't seem to have much patience, but this could also be that the only time we see him in action, he has a deadline to get his father's time machine fixed. This still shows some persistence, but only when it's something he deems important. Anything else, it's a hassle to get him to finish. Wilbur has to be completely invested in the task or it's not worth his time.

He is certainly a thirteen year old boy, trying to seem adult but still very child-like. He has immature tendencies, such as lying, age being more important in his eyes, and mini huffy tantrums. He also has an amazing imagination, one he uses to create wild stories about himself. He exaggerates a lot, especially about how often his parents will kill him for breaking and hiding things from them.

His attitude is a bit bossy. He uses his age as an excuse to tell others what to do (if they're younger than him, that is) and will become exasperated if he doesn't get his way. He does not like when people don't listen to him. He will drive a point and go out of his way to prove he's right no matter what. He threw Lewis off a building to prove he did, in fact, have a time machine. While Wilbur doesn't like when people don't listen to him, he also doesn't like to be told what to do himself. Even the simplest request will leave him in a bad mood, and he'll reluctantly do the job (albeit a bit half-assed, sometimes). He is a bit selfish and tends to only do things that benefit him. He'll even lie (and lie and lie) to get what he wants. He has a habit of saying whatever is on his mind and regrets it later.

Another point for "Things that make Wilbur look like a bad person", Wilbur has a high opinion of himself. He certainly acts like he can't do anything wrong and will take on tasks that most people would shirk away from. Not everyone would go back in time to save their own father's future. However, he does seem to have an inkling that he can't be good at everything, so he tries to cover all bases, get every possible outcome. Though, the consequences don't really seem to bother him. He'll go through with his plan regardless, since, well, he can do no wrong. How could there be consequences. However, if he does happen make a mistake, he will go through hell to fix it.

Despite all these awful things, Wilbur can be a friendly person. His upbeat nature and natural optimism draw people to him (if they haven't been turned away by his aggressive leadership). He's not afraid to share his life story with someone he just met. He can bring a lot of new and interesting ideas to the table prompting those who may have normally been shy or shelter to come out of their shell and view the world in a completely different light. When he finally calms down, he can be sympathetic and caring. He'll worry if he sees someone upset, though he's not entirely sure the best way to cheer them up.

POWERS/ABILITIES: Electricity Manipulation; General ability to control electricity in one form or another. He can generate electricity from his body, conduct electricity through himself and certain objects, charge objects, and absorb electricity.
- Generate: He is able to generate electricity inside his body and discharge it. He limits the discharge to his hands by use of rubber sole shoes. He is unable to generate large amounts of electricity quickly due to his low level of control. Smaller charges generate quickly and vice-versa.
- Conduct: He can conduct electricity through his body and through objects, barring objects that do not conduct electricity already (rubber, for example). This allows him to redirect electrical currents.
- Charging: Mostly used to power electronic devices. He can easily power small devices, such as phones and computers, possibly even car batteries. The larger the power source, the more difficult it becomes. This also includes the possible ability of revival in humans. Just like powering electronic devices, Wilbur could send electricity to the heart, much like a defibrillator.

He could also achieve the opposite effect and short-circuit items (and people) instead. He can do this at will, but more often than not, he will accidentally short-circuit electronic devices when he is angry or frustrated.
-Absorb: He can draw in power from other electrical devices or natural electricity (aka lightning) to increase his own power. However, the amount of electricity absorbed could be dangerous. Due to his low level of control, over-absorption could possibly be fatal.

Note: During daily activities, Wilbur wears rubber gloves to keep from shocking other people, destroying property, and generally frying things he might need (aka homework).

Self Bio-Electrical Manipulation; Wilbur has the ability to stimulate electric impulses in his body to enhance physical or mental abilities. He is only able to do this to himself, however. With this power, he can achieve quick bursts of speed, strength, or mental power in order so quickly solve complex problems. These enhancement are very short lived, and his body may become weak for a period of time due to the unnatural stimulation.

Weaknesses; Outside of those listed above in their respective sections, Wilbur's greatest weakness would be water. Since he doesn't have complete control over his powers, random electrical discharges could happen at any moment, and this could be dangerous if he happens to be in any body of water.

AU HISTORY: Wilbur was born and raised in the great city of Chicago, Illinois. While he has no siblings, he had an extensive family that includes fourteen family members living under one roof. His father is a well-known and renowned scientist, his work focused on new and reusable energy sources and transportation. Wilbur never had a hard life, and there was never a definition of "normal" in their home. Everyone was far too eccentric to be considered "normal" by society's standards.

His powers manifested at a very young age. The power in the house seemed to react solely to his emotions, especially when he was upset. When he'd cry, the light and appliances would flicker or short-circuit all together. To his parents, this was worrisome, at most. They couldn't afford to replace every appliance and light bulb in the house if this should happen again. (Even to this day, Wilbur's home is run on an alternative power source, thanks to his father's work.) As he grew older, keeping track of him was a full time job. When he learned to walk, no electronic was safe. He had a nasty habit of draining the power completely or over-powering them to the point of shorting out.

Public school was out of the question. His parents had attempted to enroll him in a handful of schools, but each time proved disastrous, and eventually home-schooling became the only option. This never deterred Wilbur from making friends with the other children in his neighborhood. You'd be surprised at how many kids found it funny when Wilbur would cause traffic lights to change or send the delivery boy on the electric scooter flying down the street. This never went without the usual scolding from Wilbur's mother. It had become routine.

But even good things had to come to an end. Word was going around about Wilbur's abilities and the danger he presented due to his pranks. If he couldn't control his power, he couldn't be around other people. His parents were at a loss. They weren't about to force Wilbur to stay indoors and bar him from social interactions. They needed an alternative. It was then that Wilbur's father remembered his company had done some work for a school that specialized in.. these situations. The Xavier Institute was contacted immediately, and Wilbur began attendance the following year.

Wilbur spent his first year making a name for himself. He would show off to other students and act out in class. Despite his behavior, Wilbur had managed to keep a good academic standing, leaving staff wondering why someone who is obviously very smart would act so rebelliously.

1ST PERSON SAMPLE: Some threads in the Test Drive Meme

[Text]

I never thought the day would come when I would say I'm glad I'm going back to school. You'd think with ultra amazing powers and great reputation, I'd be exempt from doing chores. Not according to my mom! "If you can deplete the power from five machines in under twenty seconds, you can handle a little laundry", she says. I know she only asks me to do it because I get rid of static cling. It's such a waste of my abilities!

THIRD PERSON SAMPLE:

It was late, and most of the male dorms had gone to bed for the night, but in the dark corner of his dorm room, Wilbur sat on the ground, staring at a light bulb as he held it in his fingers. The bulb slowly flashed off an on in a fashion similar to being controlled by a dimmer switch.

You have no control.

Wilbur furrowed his brow as those words repeated themselves in his head. He couldn't shake them. Ever since training, those words had bothered him. He couldn't concentrate, he couldn't sleep. And what was a stupid exercise like this light bulb thing going to prove? It wasn't his fault he was so powerful. They should just accept that and embrace it and-

The light bulb burned to its maximum wattage and then some, filling the entire side of the room with light, before shattering. As if the shards of glass everywhere weren't a problem, the noise couldn't have been ignored. Wilbur glanced up to see his roommate stir, but they rolled over without a word. With a sigh of frustration, Wilbur tossed the remaining screw cap into the waste bin and retrieved a fresh bulb from the package.

"I have plenty of control," Wilbur muttered to himself, as he held the light bulb firmly between his fingers, watching the light face off and on again.
